Youth band

The youth band performing at Henfield Garden and Arts Festival June 2019

We have a thriving youth band of  youngsters ranging in age from 5 to 18. The band welcomes all new players and is able to provide an instrument, music, uniform and support for those in their early years of playing. A beginners group runs from 6:30-7:00 followed by youth band rehearsal 7:00-7:45pm.

The aim of the band is to encourage youngsters to improve their playing through a shared enjoyment of working with others. We have a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, members of the band suggest music to play, sometimes conduct a piece and recently initiated the purchase of a more modern uniform. We are a very sociable band and enjoy chatting and sharing refreshments at all of our summer engagements as well as playing music together.

New members are always welcome in the band.  We can accommodate absolute beginners, those who can play a few notes and adults either starting out or returning to playing.  Our most experienced youth band players are also members of the senior band.

All of our volunteers have had appropriate checks and we are a member of Brass Bands England.  As such, we follow their child protection guidelines. The chairman of Patcham Silver Band acts as welfare officer for our Youth Band and attends our weekly rehearsals.  Our policies are available by following this link.
